Interesting Houston Wedding Venues

My partner and I are getting married next spring, and we’re looking for some interesting, affordable wedding venues. We’ve focused on something like a brewery or something like that (St. Arnolds, Buffalo Bayou Brewing, etc.), not something super fancy and with lots of room to spread out for ~150 guests.

To clarify, we’re both guys and in our late 30’s/early 40’s and aren’t too worried about hosting a Bridesmaids-style ~perfect~ wedding. We will have a lot of out of towners coming, so keeping it as central to the inner loop as possible is preferable. If anyone has been to an interesting venue or has thoughts, we’d really appreciate it!

EDIT: Y’all THANK YOU for these incredible suggestions! So many ideas that we hadn’t even considered and I’m sure we never would have thought of. This is so great. We’ll definitely update on what we decide to do!

Apartments near Westchase area..(Katy, even Cypress)

I’m still new to Houston, been here for almost a year. I’ve been living off 290 near the Beltway. Not the best area, but considering I moved here and signed a lease sight unseen, it’s been fine and served it’s purpose while I secured permanent local employment and learned the city. Looks like I’ll be starting a new job in the Westchase area in the next couple of weeks. I’d like to move around the end of the year and want my next residence to be a place that’s safe, within budget (<$1200) and also with a little bit or character instead of the same ole generic apartments. I’ll probably end up in an generic apartment but I’d like to at least try for something cool since I have time on my side and not in a real hurry to do anything. Any one have any suggestions? I’m thinking Katy but not in any way determined to live in Katy.

Anime at Comicpalooza

My niece is really into anime, but she is not able to go to Anime Matsuri today at GRB. I see that Comicpalooza is next weekend. I know it’s not JUST anime, but the website says they do have anime along with other comic stuff. She won’t care about anything other than anime. Is there enough anime there so that she’d enjoy it or is anime a small aspect of the event?
