Young adult in in Houston looking for advice on safe and affordable apartments in Houston?

I’ve been in Houston all my life and want to move out and get my own place. I’m willing to pay ideal a max of $1,200 a month for apartment (don’t know how realistic that is) does anyone have suggestions of safe places in town to move to?
