XFL, with an upstart team in Houston, lays off all employees and has no plans to return in 2021

The resurgence of the XFL appears to be over before it even had a chance to begin.

The XFL, which includes the Houston Roughnecks, has laid off all of its employees and suspended operations, according to ESPN and multiple other media reports.

“While a handful of executives remain employed, the league currently has no plans to return in 2021,” ESPN reports.
