WTH -Deputy shot at Plaza Americana

I just watched a news report that the deputy who was shot and killed at the old Sharpstowm mall was working his LAST day at his second job. He had this second job to supplement his 40k a year job. What?? 40k? Are you kidding? Why aren't we paying officers a LIVABLE wage? 40k?!! Teachers start out at close to 59k in the district I work for. Why the hell are law officers making less than that???? Yes, the man who shot him is responsible, but he wouldn't need a second job if his first job paid a decent wage!! Ridiculous.
