Woodside Energy Group, Santos abandon talks for potential $52 billion merger
Australia-based oil and gas majors Woodside Energy Group Ltd. (NYSE: WDS) and Santos Ltd. have dropped talks to potentially merge the companies in what has been estimated could be a $52 billion deal. Woodside said in a statement on Feb. 7 it had ceased discussions with Santos regarding a potential merger, and it will only pursue a transaction that brings value to its shareholders.
