wonderland…to or not to

I currently live in a house that functions really great for me and my life style but it is not in a great neighborhood. I'm scared to walk the streets and I'd like to – for exercise!. A house came available to me which is in a great neighborhood, great schools, awesome walkability but I do not care for the house at all. It'll work but has none of the extras my current house has I never knew I wanted before I moved in.
Do people move into houses they don't like cause the neighborhood is better? Have you done this? What happened, how long did you stay? I'd never here gun shots there, but I do suspect the karen quotient to be high over there, lol. Where I currently live, I like my low key neighbors. Unknown at new place. I'm tempted by the better neighborhood only, is that worth it?
