With the signing of Dalton Schultz, the offense’s cap hit is currently more than double the cap hit of the defense for 2024 ($122mil vs. $59mil)

Overthecap for reference

With the reveal of Dalton Schultz’s contract structure, we know that he will have a $7.9 million cap hit for the 2024 season.

I’m not trying to spin any kind of narrative with this, just thought it was interesting. The defense’s cap number will get a lot closer to the offense’s number, as we will likely have to sign multiple guys at all 3 levels of the defense in free agency. Robert Woods may also get cut, which would save nearly $5 million against the cap.

The offense will probably still have the higher cap number this year though, as we still need to sign at least one running back and a swing tackle.
