Will animal control take care of two large dogs that kills neighborhood cats and breaks fences

I just came back from vacation to find a dead cat in my family’s yard on top of a broken fence. Not even 2 days later, another dead cat, this time out in the open, flesh wound and everything. The two dogs keep chasing after the cats that are still alive, too. I just called animal control, but I’m anxious to see if they will do anything. If these two dogs are owned, will they simply tell the owner to leash their dogs? And what if they don’t comply, just for me to find more dead neighborhood cats that I’ve grown up with? I’m just really sad and anxious while I wait 🙁
