Why would Texans trade for Tee Higgins or Stefon Diggs?

Signing Higgins or Diggs for big money before extending Nico doesn't make a lot of sense. There are still too many holes in the defense that need to be addressed so it wouldn't be a good idea to give up the type of money and draft capital needed to acquire Higgins or Diggs.

If Texans didn't already have a solid #1 in Nico and didn't need to draft more defense, it'd be a different story. Doesn't mean they shouldn't get Stroud more weapons, but with Nico and Tank developing into a solid 1 2 along with Schultz taking a fair share of targets, aren't they better off finding another weapon in this deep WR draft class?

I wish Derrick Brown and Jonathan Allen were realistic trade targets but they're not. Panthers aren't looking to trade Derrick Brown. DB is their franchise defensive cornerstone that they're trying to rebuild around. It makes no sense for them to trade him away. Same with the Patriot's Christian Barmore. Both players will likely see extensions soon.

Washington's GM Adam Peters confirmed they're not looking to trade Jonathan Allen. They added some depth to help their defense and said they're hoping to make a similar turnaround like the Texans did this past season with their #2 overall pick and a multitude of 2nd and 3rd round picks.

Texans don't appear to be interested in Xavien Howard and are fine with rolling with their new signings Okudah, Henderson, and Bryant. If anything there's probably more interest in Adoree Jackson who can play slot/nickel or outside if needed. Jackson performed well after returning from injury last season which had limited him prior few seasons. He's got top 20 CB upside if he stays healthy.

Whatever the big move Texans might be planning, it's probably something we all least expect. Could end up being something weird like moving Robert Woods for Cameron Heyward and drafting a high upside DT prospect like Maason Smith to develop under Heyward for a year or two. Who knows
