Why Texans went after Stefon Diggs

1. He fits well in the lineup. He can line up mostly in the slot with Nico and Tank outside

1. Diggs no longer has to be the alpha WR1 and is the final piece to the best WR trio in the league. On paper, this may be the best starting offense the Texans have ever fielded.

1. Diggs is an elite route runner, succeeding best as a down field threat. Something he wasn't utilized as much last season. He's going to love Texan's usage of deep over the middle, big post and crossing routes out of the slot.

1. CJ Stroud and the Texans FO wanted Diggs here. There had been whispers of Diggs getting along well with the Texans players, especially with CJ and Tank all offseason. No doubt there were many conversations had ahead of the official decision and announcement

1. Diggs contract is team friendly for his caliber. Texans essentially get Diggs on a one-year, $19.8M deal with team options every year after that. Diggs' $18.5M cap hit in 2025 ranks 15th among receivers. It was a no-brainer for only having to give up a future 2nd round pick. Not only that, but the Texans received a 2024 6th round pick and 2025 5th round pick in return. Texans now have the #42, #59, #86, #123, #127, #188 #238, #247 and Bill's 6th round pick they can use to add depth or trade up in the draft
