Why is there such a substantial Indian population in the Houston area?

I have lived in 5 different states and I've noticed a large population of Indian-Americans in and around Houston.I spent 18 years around San Diego and there were a lot of people from Mexico, which makes sense because Mexico was nearby. However, out of all the places, why Houston?
