Why is Neil Armstrong’s old house for sale a news item?

For the last couple of days, there's been a bunch of local media articles about a house that once was owned by Neil Armstrong being up for sale. This is a typical example:

At first I thought that this is something that has been in his family for the whole time and was finally being sold.

But no. Looking through the HCAD appraisal district history, they don't even list his ownership with the earliest record going back to 1984. Which suggests Neil Armstrong hasn't had a connection to this place for at least 40 years.

This strikes me as just some clever marketing to try to generate more interest in the sale of a house that happened to have an astronaut living in it several decades ago.

While I have to admire the realtor for pulling off this marketing coup, I have to wonder why so many gullible media types are falling for this an amplifying it.
