Why is it so hard to find rooms for rent in the inner loop.

I’ve tried looking on Facebook groups, padsplit, roomies.com, etc. but I can’t seem to find any good places to rent. My budget is reasonably 1,000/month for a private room and bathroom in a townhouse, and I’m looking in the following areas: upper Kirby, river oaks, heights, rice military, eado. I just want to stay in the north west or middle part of the inner loop but I cannot find good places.

What sites is everyone finding good places to room at? My current lease is ending and my landlord is renting out the entire house instead of the individual rooms and I am running out of options!
