Why exactly did Phillip Lindsay get cut?

Looking at his stats, his YPC last year was 4.3, which was basically identical to all of his 1,000 yard seasons. What exactly happened where the Broncos didn’t believe in him, and that he’s not our top of the committee guy over here? Seems like somebody you could get a pick for.
