Why do drivers seem so aggressive here?

I just moved to Houston about two weeks ago. I lived in several large major cities on the East Coast and Midwest, but I’ve never encountered such aggressive drivers than here in Houston. Everyone seems to be driving angrily and illogically fast/aggressive (like whizzing by me only to end up next to me at an upcoming stop light moments later).

Am I alone in noticing this? Anyone have an idea why it’s like this? The change in driving was immediately noticeable once I entered Houston.
