Why are people backing into their parking spaces in Houston?

I noticed people are starting to back into parking spaces. I don't know why. The problem I see with it is when they pull out there's no indication that they're moving unless they turn their lights on. Back up lights on a car Warning others that a parked car is backing out. It seems easier to pull into a tight space and back out into an open Lane.
