Who is interviewing?

I see so many signs and posts saying, "urgently hiring" or "no one wants to work". I keep applying and I am rarely to none getting interviews.

I have an Associates degree in Electronics and 15+ years working experience. And the only places that have interviewed are either contract to hire or temporary. I currently have a steady job that isn't paying enough, and I tell that to the recruiters, but they still offer me some janky position making similar or less than I am now, for temporary??

Is this a joke? I've never seen the job market so bad when employers are so "desperate".
