Whitmire is a Dinosaur.

This isn't a political thread , I don't like SJL ( I've meet her multiple times ) not one lf them was pleasant.. Hell I once said " Good morning " directly to her face and she looked dead at me and kept walking .

My problem with Whitmire lays in the fact , He has no real vision for Houston. Or to be more accurate his ideas of what Houston should be are stuck in the past… He is stuck seeing Houston as this mono toned city where everything evolves around the car.

So to him Urban planning should follow suit… except that Houston sucked ! I was borned and raised here …I own cars, I grew up taking the bus.. so I understand the importance of both.

We don't want to go back to a Houston where 80% of Downtown was parking lots!

We don't want a Houston back that lead the nation is people killed on bikes because ( you couldn't ride on the side walks( legally) so your only choice was to risk being on the roads.

The 80s and 90s the Bayou was a giant sewer , instead of one of the most visited places in Houston with plans to expands..

80s and 90s…Houston wasn't a place people talked about, it wasn't somewhere you boosted about moving to… Over the last 20 to 25 years the city has worked to become a place that could be spoken in the same breath as NY, L A ..Chicago..and yes ( I hate to say it) Dallas. Do we still have a ways to go? Yes

What I've seen so far from JW is someone who idea of what our city should be is mared in a Houston that when you are honest wasn't that great
