Whit Oak Bayou cycling/running

Talked to a supervisor of some sort this morning while riding as to why the trees on the upper part of the trail had been removed to another bayou. He told me that later this year the entire trail is going to be closed and ripped up from Pinemont all the way to the northern end to make room for bayou expansion. Supposedly the trail will eventually be replaced but seemed to acknowledge the bayou expansion may not include the replacement which would have to be funded by the city $$?

Anything related to flooding mitigation obviously a very high priority but disappointing non the less to lose the trail.
