Which part of the city should I get a hotel?

Coming into town for a family function, but will need a hotel. Med Center and Galleria areas are about a 15 min drive and Sugarland would be about a 25 min drive. Was only considering Sugarland for the free/easy parking aspect. Will mostly just be going to the hotel late at night with the kids to sleep, so amenities are not important. Just clean/safe/preferably updated. Should I just go with whatever is least expensive or would one of those areas be better than another if they are all the same price?
