Which bird and plant guides for HTX

Hey all. I’m looking to identify the flora and fauna in my (League City) backyard. I’ve looked at Sibleys for birds. And Audobon for plants. However, I’d like some thoughts as to which identification books are best for our area. I like nature but want to make sure I’m getting the most value for our area from books. Eventually I want a permaculture system in my backyard to share. Thank you in advance!
