Where to go to watch Giminid Shower?

Hello!

I just found out the Geminid Shower is happening this weekend (friday and saturday night). I actually have my anniversary saturday, and thought it would be nice to surprise my boyfriend with a camping trip that involved stargazing/watching the shower.

I'm trying to find places to go near Houston, but I'm not positive if they're really far enough away from Houston to be far from light pollution. I did find a light pollution map and am looking at it.

I know Big Bend National Park is wonderful, but I don't have the time to go all the way there unfortunately (10 hour drive there and back?)

I don't mind driving up to 3 hours away, but anything farther than that may not work.

I know you can technically go anywhere, but I was hoping to find an airbnb or a glamping site I could reserve. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
