Where should I stay for 3-4 nights?

Howdy from Sacramento. So the Kings are playing the Rockets on back to back games in February. I was thinking of taking a trip to Houston (never been) and watching the games in person as well as exploring the town. Where is a good location to stay?

Also I know Houston is pretty muggy in summer. How are the winters normally like? Thanks for any tips.
