Where is the best place to donate items?

I have a lot of baby clothes for boys and girls, a lot of boys clothes and a lot of toys for donation. Where would be the best place to take them? I read a negative article about Goodwill and don't really want to leave the stuff there. Is there any local place that can get these items to people that need them?
