Where does one park to enjoy a walk at Buffalo bayou park?

I usually stick to parks in the Heights but yesterday I tried going around 11 am and all of the free parking at the water works was taken. Guess I have to get there real early just to park. Couldn’t find any parking on maps either. So I drove around lost af and finally found some metered parking on Gillette St. Is that the only parking available?
