Where are some good venues to go to socialize and make friends?

Recently, a good friend who I've known since middle / high school passed away.

I feel like it may help if I find out where I can go to make some new friends.

If it helps, I'm about to hit 30 soon.

I don't usually get out much, but I figure I ought to get out here and there to talk to people.
