When it Doesn’t Fit

Did you know that the US. generates an average of 25 billion pounds of textiles per year, enough for 82 pounds per person? Of those 82 pounds, roughly 72 pounds of clothing is thrown away per person every year. Houston City Beat would love to share with you a story about a great group of people in Houston who are making a difference in our local community and across the globe. We would love to introduce you to Fazeel Lakhani, CoFounder of Reuse Textile Recycling Services, based in Houston Texas. What makes ReUse Textile Recycling Services so amazing?

ReUse Textile Recycling Services are out there helping a vast demographic and the environment too! Reuse is making a positive impact in reducing the amount of clothing that ends up in the landfills. Let me share with you an example…When you donate your used clothing items to Reuse, you are helping your local non-profit because Reuse will pay them by the pound. Your clothing donation then creates jobs in Houston as the clothing items are sorted and transported to their final destination. What you donate will either be shipped to a third world country where it will help the micro economy or it will be repurposed into industrial material like insulation.

Check out the interview with Lisbet Marquez from Houston City Beat and Fazeel Lakhani with Reuse Textile Recycling Services and thank you very much for watching!

P.S. Give the video a like, it would mean a lot to us!
