What’s up with BSI abandoning the white oak bayou trial project?

I read an article saying BSI pulled out of the bayou flood planning project (including finishing their partially completed work), but a neighbor told me there may be issues with funding “disappearing.” I cannot find anything that signals any money is missing or any investigation by city or state officials, so I wanted to check if anyone else heard these rumors.

I really hope the trail is at least made safe while it’s sorted. I live near a section that was almost completely torn out and drain inlets were placed, but not covered. There is now lumber and brush covering the inlets and I’m terrified someone not familiar with the area is going to fall into them and drown or be seriously injured.
