What’s the deal with so many transplants having an issue with Houston’s diversity?
So I went to grab a quick bite earlier at Roostar on Gessner and witnessed an asshole about to get his ass kicked and tossed out. I order my food with someone that has a really hard to understand accent (I’m guessing Indian?) and he has to repeat himself a few times but who cares. It’s Houston and you hear all sorts of accents if you get around the city. He was helpful and recommended something when I asked.
I pay, go to the restroom and come out to a white man with a very thick east coast accent telling him to get someone else to take his order. Dude at register is apologizing and obviously very uncomfortable with everything going on. The customer then asks him how he even got hired if he can’t speak English and to bring someone else up front now so he can actually order his food. At that point, a manager (I think) comes out and asks how he can help him. Well, he’s got a hard to understand accent too so that sets Yankee off even more and he starts laughing and saying “you gotta be fucking kidding me”. A few guys from the back came out and he realized it was a losing battle so walked out all pissed.
I’ve witnessed rude comments and similar behavior from white people who are obviously from other states towards Houstonians. So my question is why are these people moving to an extremely diverse place like Houston if they feel like this?
