What to do when visiting Houston?

Good day everyone! My family (wife and 2 young daughters) are planning to fly down to Houston from WI in a few weeks. We're staying with some friends and we're interested to know what are some things to do/see in the Houston area. I play disc golf, what are some area courses that are good? Local parks, zoos, architecture, art, museums? I don't think ourselves as "foodies" but I like to visit and spend my money at locally owned places with good food and atmosphere. I like spicy food, like Nashville hot chicken spicy. I also like microbreweries, I'm a homebrewer so I like good beer. What are some local beers I should look for when at the grocery/liquor store?
