What is up with the surge in mosquitos??

Since it’s been raining recently i knew mosquitos would swarm again but holy f**k i stepped outside to get some figs in my front yard and the sheer number of mosquitoes that ate my legs and arms was crazy. Had to run in and douse myself in alcohol and bug spray. Went back outside and there were a ton of tiny mosquitos all around. Never seen this many of them what the hell has anybody experienced this??
