What is this O-Line Scheme
Watched some O-Line film since I wanted a list of some of the things our O-line can't handle. Amongst them was this blitz look with both linebackers lining the A-gap. Miami used this multiple times and it worked each time in the exact same way.
First clip is 1st quarter:

Second clip is 4th quarter. Notice how we've made zero adjustments?

You'll notice both times Patterson passes the strong side linebacker to Ogunbowale, and instead elects to block… nobody. In the first clip this would've been okay if we could pick up stunts, but we still can't. In the second clip, this decision causes there to be a free rusher on the edge that Dare would have been able to pick up if Patterson blocked someone. Either way, we didn't pick up the interior stunt so there'd be pressure regardless
Is this Strausser's fault or Patterson's?
– I don't know, I don't pretend to be an offensive line coach. That said, it's hard to tell what is going on that would cause Patterson to play this way. In both instances, the left A-gap and far left edge rushers drop out, leaving ONE rusher being the inside edge to be blocked by TWO linemen who aren't Patt. The only justification I could think of to keep Patt from helping on the right is to protect the possible delayed rush by the left A-gap linebacker. My thought is vs an all-out look, you ignore that concern and slide as soon as someone drops, especially since the defense would have a free man anyways if they didn't delay since they're in cover zero.
– My main frustration I guess is the lack of adjustments. We got new people in new positions, so mistakes are inevitable. The same inexplicable mistake is not so understandable.
