What is the point of r/Houston?

Serious question. Is it a place for Houstonians to chat and have fun? A link depository for local news sites? A welcoming mat for all those damn tourists? Resource for people moving to Houston?

All the fun inane threads with lots of comments get closed down and we're left with a bunch of boiler plate news stories.

I come to reddit to kill time, not read the news.
