What is it like to visit Houston from outside the US as a tourist?
I am a Houston resident, and I didn't move recently so doesn't apply to me. I do have relatives who have visited, but my family takes care of pretty much everything. So they don't have to deal with anything. I am planning a trip to Istanbul this summer, and there is just so much information to wade through. Everything appears to be a soft scam. I don't know if that is a term, but by that I mean a tourist will get overcharged for everything. Starting from the taxi trip from the airport, to eating out, to tours, and so on. Every place or tour has elventy advise associated with it about the dos and don't to not get ripped off. They clearly take advantage of tourists not knowing the local language. On the plus side they do have an amazing mass transit system and a lot of touristy places are walkable.
Is visiting Houston like this as well? Although I am not sure if Houston (or the US in general) even does the separate pricing for locals vs outsiders. Taking a rental is straight forward. Taxis are a bit odd and there is no real mass transit that tourists would take.
