What is it like owning a motorcycle in Houston?

I really want to own a motorcycle but I feel like I would be pissed if my cause of death was a clapped out Altima cutting me off at 70mph. I’ve heard it’s very dangerous to ride here but I wanted to see what y’all think. Is the traffic manageable for a beginner rider?
