What Fort Bend's Black Cowboy Museum groundbreaking can teach America | Opinion

The Houston Chronicle ran a column on the Black Cowboy Museum, which is moving to a big, new space in Fort Bend even as the White House's fight against diversity, inclusion and equity continues.. Here's a quote:

That’s just one of the reasons that the Black Cowboy Museum’s expansion feels so noteworthy right now. In the popular imagination, Black cowboys are a potent symbol of resistance, a defiant yet unassailable figure. Who could have a problem with cowboys after all?

But the Black Cowboy Museum tells a more complicated story, one that defies the easy binary of our political moment and perhaps shows us how to move beyond it.
