What do you guys think of my encounter with this person?

So I visited Peru and noticed this tourist wearing cowboy boots. I just approached him to compliment his boots, I told him I was from Texas and that I have a collection of boots.

Turns out this guy was Spanish and he gave me a lecture on how his boots are the authenthic ones because they are Spanish and that the only thing Texas did well was create the snip toe or something like that. He kept going but honestly I don't remember everything he said.

I just nodded I said I really like cowboy boots lol. I felt he was trying to get something out of me or continue arguing, after my lack of interest he just smiled and said nice meeting you.
