what are these peas? are the edible? poisonous?

im from new jersey and just moved here and they are in my backyard and so i took one and opened it and saw it did actually have peas inside and i know this is childish but i kind of wanted to eat them! Please tell me what this is and if they are poisonous! i would ask my neighbors but i feel like they would look at me funny 😭
