What are good places to visit in Houston?

Hello! 2 friends and I are planning to visit Houston on the weekend after July 4th. We have only been to Houston for family and never experienced much of the city. What are some places that we could visit? What are great places to visit that don’t have the tourists all over the place (Crowds could overwhelm us which could make us anxious)?
