Weird Thursday night

Left a bar on the East End to head south around 12:30 AM via Uber. I was anticipating some rodeo traffic, but that wasn’t the problem at all. HPD had shut off all the exits and entrances to the freeway! I thought maybe they were DWI checks but they were just parked police cars with blue/red lights, blocking everything for NO REASON. The freeway itself was empty, it was so weird. Took almost an hour to get home, the drivers Uber app and my Waze app were both useless. What a shitshow, I’ll be avoiding Houston proper til the Rodeo is done.
