Week 1 Thoughts

We are a good team and shouldn't get too down on the week 1 loss.

• Offensive line: It’s not perfect, but the interior looks improved compared to last year. Most of the problems appeared to come from Ersery and he was asked to play both Right and Left. He’s a rookie that we asked too much from. That’s fixable with time and reps.
• Play calling: Caley is also a rookie. We have heard he has an awesome attitude but does he have a brilliant football mind? The biggest head-scratcher for me was Nico not getting more targets?
• Injuries: We are down Mixon and Kirk. We aren't playing with the full deck. You rarely are in the NFL but those are pretty big holes to fill.
• Defense: The defense showed up in my opinion. Holding their own against a very good Rams offense is a big positive. Just got to keep the penalties down.

It’s week 1. We lost to a very good team. There are plenty of positives to build on. If we clean up protection and get Nico more involved we’re going to be just fine.
