We need to tone down our expectations for head coach
I think us Texans fans need to be realistic on which candidates would be willing to come here and coach for the Texans,as they are arguably the least attractive head coach vacancy this year given the organizational reputation and severe lack of roster talent.
We saw it last year in which our finalists were Culley and Frazier.
I get that there’s only 32 head coaching positions and it’s an honor to be a head coach, but it’s tough for me to see a promising, young coordinator (who we’d ideally want) jeopardizing their career with the Texans. Might as well stay as a coordinator and wait for a better opportunity.
This is why we see “McCown gets 2nd interview.” The Texans are kind of forced to go with these “out of box hires” because the coach has to be just as interested in the Texans as the Texans are in them.
Obviously things may change if we get a haul for Deshaun, but currently, our situation isn’t as desirable as we think
