We in Houston, but I want to live in countryside in East Pearland. Is Pearland a good idea?

eta: tl;dr Anyone here close to Pearland or know more about East Pearland? Or would recommend me an area that has more of countryside taste into it?

Hi, sorry I'm Chinese and English is my 3rd language.

I'm married 11 years, and we live in Houston. My husband has a University Master degree in Chemical Engineering and has been working in his job field for 16 years (he 39 now). He makes good money, he makes 130K a year take home (after tax), he very responsible with money and he debt-free. I'm also debt-free. So we live comfy with his income as we both are savers.

We are childless couple, I personally don't want kids. We do have a house in Houston, which he bought and paid off in cash, so we don't even have mortgage. Nor credit card debt or debt of any kind, our cars were paid in cash too.

I'm also 39, and all my life I always wanted to live in the countryside, the simple life, if I can I want to grow vegetables and raised chickens eggs, lol, you get the gist. He? Not so much, he is a Chemical Engineer, he prefers the city. But will go with me to countryside if that what I wanted.

No, I don't want to go out of Houston due to I want my husband to be close driving distance to his work.

I did look into East of Pearland area where it has small towns and less people, as I want to find some countryside feel into it. With his income and both of us debt free, we do have enough in Savings to buy a house in Pearland, I just want a small house enough for the 2 of us, but it must have countryside feel into it.

Anyone here close to Pearland or know more about East Pearland? Or would recommend me an area that has more of countryside taste into it?

Thank you so much in advance for your input/advice.
