We didn’t trade up for Anderson.

Seen a lot of people saying how Anderson needs to have a HOF level season to be "worthy" of trading up the way we did. But I think Texans fans are looking at this the wrong way. Change the way you're thinking of it, look at it as we traded up for Stroud.

If we took Anderson at 2, we'd be competing with potentially the Colts, Titans, Pats, Bucs, Vikings or other as a trade up for Pick 3. If the plan was always to take both of them at 2 & 3 then it shouldn't matter who we took first, but in this case it did. Stroud being off the board cut the teams willing to trade to 3 down to half, maybe even less?

The Niners moved from 12 to 3 for trey lance and it cost them 3 firsts and a 3rd, we traded up – got Stroud – and it only cost is 2x ones and a 2. We still have at least one first rounder a year going forward as well.

This is an absolute win for the Texans!
