Way too much doom and gloom in here!!
Guys, it’s been one game. When was the last time the Texans won a season opener? 2016?? We played against the defending SB champs who returned a bulk of their core. Texans are implementing a lot of new pieces.
That being said, this game def showed us a lot of what works and what doesn’t.
What works: 1. Jacob Martin: Why he’s not getting more playing time is beyond me. 2. Akins: He should be starting 3. DJ: looked really good! Hope we can see him more in the pass game as well. 4. Roby: Tyreek had a fairly quiet night. Never heard Roby’s number called. 5. The defensive creativeness in the 1Q. More of that please.
What wasn’t working: 1. Tackling: My God, wrap tf up!! (Fixable and typical of this team early in the season) 2. 3Q playcalling: Flat. Flat. Flat. What was it? 5/8 run plays? Way to protect that lead.(very fixable, but will it be is the biggest ?) 3. Use of the intermediate passing game. Has never been a favorite of D4s, but I’m hoping with these new offensive weapons and scheme that that will change. 4. Run blocking: PLOT TWIST: Reader may prove to be a bigger offseason loss than Hop. This is the one negative that I feel will be harder to fix.
