Watson and holding on to the ball

This myth is starting to run in to the territory of James Harden’s past defensive woes.

I keep hearing about Watson’s propensity to hold the rock as the reason he is getting sacked. Naturally I looked at the stats.

Watson is releasing the ball at at 2.71 seconds on average. This would have been top 10 in release in the NFL last year. He has been sacked 8 times.

Let’s compare this to other QB’s this year.

What does the man need to do? How can you expect to be successful when your offensive line does not protect you?
