Water Killing Hair?

My family lives in Fort Bend, and sometime during early quarantine, my scalp began itching almost constantly and shortly after I started losing hair. At this point my hair is thinner than anybody else in my family, including grandparents.

My sister had the same problem, until she moved to Huntsville, where the problem resolved itself. I moved to downtown Houston and have the same problem still. We’re thinking it has something to do with the water, so has anything about the water changed in Houston which might cause this?

Edit: the water where we lived in Fort bend is softened by a salt water softener, but it often acted strangely
