Watching our elected officials bicker with each other is infuriating

It's not enough that millions are still without power five days after the storm. It's not enough that we're in the middle of a heat wave. It's not enough that homes are destroyed, and families are displaced, and people are dying. On top of all that we're forced to watch as our elected officials engage in a petty, childish, and irresponsible blame game.

First Biden blamed Abbott for failing to formally request help. Then Abbott accuses Biden of lying and demands an investigation into CenterPoint. Then Dan Patrick attacks Lina Hidalgo. Then Lina Hidalgo fires back at Patrick. Then Mayor Whitmire blames the Astros.

I've lost track of the finger pointing and ass-covering, and honestly I don't give a f**k. There is not some magical line where a hurricane becomes solely a city problem, or a state problem or a national problem.

At the very least we should expect cooperation between the various levels of government in addressing the aftermath of Beryl, not and endless cycle of passing the buck and denying responsibility. You can figure out whose fault it was later, but for now our elected leaders need to show a unified front.

The response to Beryl has been an absolute embarrassment, probably the worst response to a natural disaster in my lifetime.
