Walking in NW Houston

Here for work. Unclear on safety of walking/jogging around Jersey Village, Carverdale, West Branch for exercise. Hotel is a POS off the highway and has a crap gym. Is it safe to jog to around? Find a coffee shop or something not a warehouse?
