volunteering in houston?

does anyone have any experience or ideas about starting to to get into volunteering? i’ve found myself with to much free time at the house which has gotten me depressed more. so i figured i could get into volunteering work and do some good while meeting new people..i work 12s saturday-monday so i’m looking for something maybe from tuesday-friday? if anyone has any info feel free to share im open to anything really.
